One...Last...Blog...I CAN SEE THE LIGHT

Well...
Our project is due today.
Thank god.
Then the only thing I have left for this class is a 2 page paper...which I will most likely crank out in 5 minutes. So basically, come 9:00...I am FREE. Well, from this class at least. And then I only have some more classes to get through...and then summer. Can I get an amen?
Anyways, I haven't really done anything today, but thats because they told me I didn't have to. Ballerific.

My Red Pen STILL Makes Me Legit.

So today I basically looked at some early copies of the magazine and went through it...it was pretty ok. But it worries me that so little of it is actually done...we'll see if we can pull it off.
It makes me angry that we have a paper to write in here...as if we haven't already had a billion final projects. Boo this.

I Think I Just Heard My Red Pen Beg for Mercy...

So today the work I did was mostly editing. And re-editing. And re-editing the re-edited pieces. Basically, it was a mass red pen-ing. I feel a little bad sometimes, but its all for the good of the final magazine. Some stories are better than others, but most of these have not been too spiffy.
While I was blogging, I got a whole new story to massacre. This job makes me feel like the grim reaper. In the best way possible.

Hopefully soon I will move on to dealing with headlines rather than semi-delusional writers. I have my fingers crossed.

Hurtful Words From KRobs.

So today I edited some stories, took a look at the actual yearbook, and got rudely verbally assaulted by Kelsie Roberts.
Ouch.
Well the stories were ok, I finally finished editing this one atrocity....anyways.
On to the real story.
K.Robs.
She was being very hurtful to me, and despite what her blog says, I did not leave her hanging. I merely had other jobs to do and could not babysit her story writing. I'm sorry. But that is how I feel. I speak the truth.
...sniffle...
Now I need to go eat my body weight in ice cream to feel better.

Sizzle Drops the Ball.

So today I didn't have a whole lot to do as far as the editing of specific pieces. So I consulted my calendar just to make sure that everyone was up to speed. Alas, our own Simon Ashmore has failed us. He told me that he would have his story to me on Monday, May 12. Today is the 16th of May. He now says that he will have his story in by NEXT Monday, as if that somehow makes his lack of initiative less pathetic. That's a week later than it was orignially set to be turned in. So, Amelia decided to sit next to him and basically put a leash on him to lead him to his story. True to Sizzle form, he has two sentences written. And, from what I hear, they aren't even that spiffy. These bad co-workers will potentially hinder my personal performance when it comes down to crunch time, which is not cool. I think I can deal with them, but Simon will be a big hurdle...here's to hoping he actually finishes his story before this whole thing is due.

My Red Pen Makes Me Legit

So today in class I edited the first few stories. They were o.k. for the most part, but I'm afraid I'm going to end up basically re-writing most of the things turned into me. Anyways, Erin Healey lent me a red pen...it made me feel really legit, which was good. I made the corrections and got them back to the writers in like, ten minutes, but we'll see how long it takes them to get the second drafts back to me.

I'm going to Bub's on Friday with K.Robs...that will be epic. I think she's going to try to eat the huge burger...hahah.

well, thats all

Calendars make me nervous.

So today we talked about the baselines of our publication. Basically we came up with ...

Rounded Fonts

Printing in Color.
Hopefully we can come up with more than that. Anyways, after that we had to make up the calendars with deadlines and such. And, as the acting Copy Editor, I had to get dates from all the writers. The problem is, Juice is not exactly the type of person that I can successfully threaten. But as long as I can take care of that, everyone else is definetly threaten-able. So now I have my master calendar ready, and as soon as I have a baseball bat handy, I'll be in business.
